…and she can conquer the world” – Marilyn Monroe

…and let’s face it – some times our only choice is to conquer. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
You may have noticed a few updates to the site…I am going through a bit of an overhaul, but so excited for the coming changes not only to my biz, but our personal life as well.
By way of an update, as the tides turn, our plans to move South of the border originally had us slated for the poor suburb of Tijuana called Ejido Matamoros. However, much to our delight, we will instead be moving to Tecate, Mexico and are currently in the process of starting to build a place out there. So many things to learn about building, and moving across the border – but we are so very excited.
For those who are not familiar with all the little border towns in California, Tecate is a sleepy little town along the California-Mexico border. The area we will be in is a bit more rural, instead of being right in the heart of town. It’s a bit hot, and dry (after all, we are spoiled beach brats), but one of the best things about Tecate is the feel. As soon as you cross the border, it feels like old Mexico used to feel, before TJ was the overworked city caught in the middle of a warring infrastructure. The buildings in Tecate have the original stone walls in a lot of places. It just has such a nice vibe. I will have to add in a few pics later after our next visit.
Then there’s the part we’re moving to, just about 15 min outside of town, and it’s totally rural. It’s quiet…..so very quiet…which some people might not enjoy too much, but we absolutely love it. Our new fur baby Bruno absolutely loves it as well. He is 100% at home waking up to the roosters and chasing locusts. I fear for the poor jack rabbits though – that boy is on a mission!
Currently we are working on setting up electrical and having the first building put up. Septic is in process and the land is being graded. However, things are a bit slow, due in large part to the heat, we haven’t quite acclimated yet. Anyone else melting much this summer?
It’s amazing how far we are able to stretch our pennies – and boy do we need it since we are starting from scratch! So, that’s the current update for now, and trust me – the right shoes are definitely NOT sassy yellow stilettos – at least not yet. My poor mom – so embarrassed by my sensible choices these days. ‘Mija – Converse are NOT sexy!’ Lol! Soon mamita – soon!
Hope you’re having a gorgeous summer, staying cool, and enjoying the beautiful sunshine out there!
